Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate Games are held about every 3 weeks, on a field near the Arlington church. The start time changes based on season, so check the Calendar or the weekly e-mail.
The field is Arlington Hall Park. Directions from the church:
- Turn right (south) onto George Mason from the church parking lot
- Take the next right onto 4th St
- Immediate right onto Taylor
- Taylor ends at the park after a few houses
Etiquette
- We play these games for fun, physical exercise and socializing. We are only the tiniest bit competitive, and that's just to add incentive to do well. It's just a game, and we don't take it too seriously.
- The current players have a range of ability, although everyone can catch and throw a Frisbee fairly reliably (while not under pressure). The better players can catch & throw well, and are in good physical shape. A few of us can throw a good forehand (the first throw most people learn is a backhand). We use person-to-person converage, and don't run special plays—we just try to get open.
- Definitely bring one or two bottles of water, no matter the weather.
- The field is more dirt & pebble than grass, so don't expect to do any diving.
- We play for about 3 hours. OK, we chat for about 1/2 an hour and play for 2 1/2 hours. With breaks.
- Showing up late is OK, although you may not get a warm-up. Watching is also perfectly fine!
