Friday Night Services
Our Friday services are held in the UUCA Chapel at 8:00 p.m. Each week, a volunteer leader from the group presents a service of his or her choice. These services are intended to provide a contemplative environment for focusing on our spiritual centers, in all their various
manifestations. Service coordinators typically provide a significant prepared portion followed by shared and unchallenged personal reflections. Service topics have ranged from reflective (Finding Meaning in Winter, Listening to Your Dreams) to studies of specific topics (The Baha'i Prophecy, Life of the Ancient Mayans) to celebratory (solstice rituals). Service topics for each week are posted on our Calendar and also listed in the weekly e-mail. After the service, we usually go as a group to a local restaurant for food and conversation.
Volunteers are always needed to lead services. The idea of a Friday night service is to give the people attending something to ponder or think about, and to share with others things that work for you in a safe and accepting environment. If you have an idea for a service please contact the Worship Associates.
Service Guidelines: In sharing reflections, participants are asked to remember and respect that this is a worship service and not a discussion group. We ask that no one comment or question any of the other participants in a way that would make them feel defensive or alienated. Part of the goal of Friday night services is to create a safe space where we can share thoughts, ideas and beliefs.
